Bio
Introducing Felicia "The Poetess" Morris, a trailblazing figure in the world of radio and entertainment. Her remarkable journey began at the tender age of 5, when she made her radio debut on KDIA-AM, a renowned soul station in the San Francisco Bay Area, under the guidance of her father, the esteemed disc jockey and broadcast engineer, Johnny Morris.
Following in her father's illustrious footsteps, Felicia ventured to Los Angeles and secured her inaugural on-air role as a co-host on Bailey Broadcasting's nationally syndicated "Hip Hop Countdown and Report." This program could be heard in over 33 markets across the U.S., catapulting The Poetess into the national spotlight.
Fueled by her passion for poetry, Felicia transitioned her verses into rap compositions, ultimately securing a recording contract with Poetic Groove/Interscope Records. This achievement
marked her as the first female rapper on Interscope Records, sharing the roster with icons like 2Pac, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and Gerardo. In 1992, she unveiled her debut album, "Simply Poetry," a collection enriched by collaborations with luminaries such as Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx, Def Jef, and Kool G. Rap. The album's lead single, "Love Hurts," swiftly ascended into the Top 10 on The Gavin Report's Rap Radio Charts, solidifying The Poetess' status as a prominent figure in the realm of hip hop.
